Detoxification and Biotherapeutic Drainage

This approach to detoxification (cleansing) utilizes homeopathic preparations of plants, tissues and metals to support the healing and optimizing of the body’s elimination systems. 

Biotherapeutic Drainage began in France in the 1900s with the work of Dr. Anthione Nebel and was continued by the work of Georege Discri and Dr. Louis Reuter.  The general idea of drainage is to facilitate the elimination of toxins and other waste substances that have built up in the body.  The specially designed homeopathic combinations focus on opening our natural detoxification pathways and optimizing their function, as well as supporting the balancing and optimization of various organ systems of the body. 

Dr.  Andrews utilizes UNDA, Gemmo, Pekana and other systems of Biotherapeutic drainage, as well as acupuncture, diet, exercise, saunas, heavy metal chelation, and traditional nature cure methods.  Each patient’s journey to healing is unique. 

UNDA remedies are based on the work of George Discri and Dr. Louis Reuter in the 1920’s and 1930’s (again in France).  George Discri kept a record of 1002 different combination formulas over his career, finally settling on 76 formulas he felt worked the best.  This is why the UNDA remedies bear numbers instead of names.  These remedies are unique in that they were formulated using many different theories:  Anthroposophical principles, metallurgy from old alchemical practices, classical Chinese medicine, and classical homoepathy, including miasmic theory. 

Gemmo remedies encourage drainage by encouraging the proper functioning of their target organs and tissues.  They are plant extracts, but are different from tinctures or other standard extracts of plants due to the harvesting method, the extraction method and their preparation (they are potentized like homeopathic remedies).  Gemmos are made of only the buds, inner bark or growing tips of the roots of plants during the peak of it’s growing / opening.  This in essence gives you the embryologic tissue of the plant, the most active point of the life force.  Some have called them “plant stem cells”.  This method of harvesting gives a very, very potent life force to the extract, and is also environmentally sustainable as the plant is not sacrificed for the harvesting.  The plant parts are extracted using a combination of water, alcohol, and glycerin, thus extracting the full spectrum of active principles from the plant.  The extract is then “potentized” or given a homeopathic “charge”.
